Creator Professional 8
With its intuitive interface and unmatched feature set, Creator Professional delivers all the tools found in Creator Desktop plus tools to maximize productivity in high-volume production environments. MultiAd® Creator Professional combines premium page-layout capabilities with drawing, illustration and image manipulation tools without the purchase of expensive add-ons. Creator Pro is designed for Newspaper production groups, agency creative departments, marketing- communication groups and professional designers.
Now with the release of Creator version 8, MultiAd add a whole new range of creative and productivity tools that will continue to set Creator apart as an essential tool in prepress, production and creative departments.
What's new in 8
Soft Shadows:This feature opens up new creative possibilities for professional graphic designers. You can apply a soft shadow to any element, path or graphic. Live text or text that has been converted to a path can also have a soft shadow. You can adjust the horizontal and vertical offset as well as the radius to create just the right special effect.
Container Self-Scaling:
This feature allows any element to be assigned its own individual container setting. This setting supersedes any previous setting on the tool itself. There is no need for you to go back and review or change the tool setting every time you wish to contain an item in the element. You can simply double-click to select the element info and choose from four container settings.
Sort:
This feature lets you place a text block with information that contains names, prices or addresses, and be able to resort that text block to accommodate a change in the desired order of the entries. You can resort the prices or numbers in ascending or descending order. Words, such as names or addresses, can also be resorted in a different order as well. Creator provides the option to select sections of the text to resort, no matter if the sort criteria is the first word in the paragraph, the last word or any word in between.
Multi-Column Text:
This feature divides a placed text block into the desired number of columns and allows for a user-defined gutter width. You simply place a text block, click on a text block setting and fill in the number of columns and gutter width, and Creator will replace the original text block. This feature allows you to quickly define a space with a text block and move on immediately to formatting.
Edit Starting Point of Text on a Path:
Use text on a path feature to apply text to the contours of a Creator shape element (rectangles, ovals, polygons and paths). The insertion point will default to the beginning of the path. You can now change the starting point of the text by repositioning the handle.
Frame Weight with Key Equivalents:
Increase and decrease frame weight with command-option-period and command-option-comma on a Mac or with alt-equals and alt-minus on a PC.
Draw Elements from Center:
Create custom shapes using the eight Creator drawing tools. By default, Creator will draw the shape from one side to the other. You can now hold the option key (Mac OS) or Alt (Windows) to draw the shape from the center.
Mark Elements as Unfinished:
Denote any element selected as a placeholder for elements that require additional input. An X will be placed over all selected elements to indicate that they have become placeholders. You can indicate a placeholder for art (such as photographs) that is physically pasted into the document after it is printed or create a placeholder to remind you to add the element later.
Zero Degree Editing:
Edit rotated, skewed or flipped text in upright orientation.
Edit Master Spread Text and Elements:
Edit text or change elements in an active spread that are in a master spread. This option allows for the use of a master spread in many document pages and the change in appearance of one or more master spread elements or text on one or more active spread pages.
Variable Underline Weight:
Use several typographical options to create a document with the look you want. Choosing the right typeface, type style, size and spacing are some of the ways you can improve the appearance of your document. The Character Attributes dialog box allows you to apply existing type styles or specify character attributes for selected text, including applying an underline. The weight of text underlines can also be changed.
Text Locking:
Use Text Flow Settings dialog box to specify default tab settings, the first baseline offset in each text block, and lock or unlock the text flow so that it cannot be cut, cleared or reformatted.

Speeds Workflow
Creator Desktop Pro offers several design features that speed up your workflow. For example, create Style Models that combine character and paragraph styles for quick formatting of multiple lines of text and placement of preset copy. Use the Make Matrix command to create matrices of linked text boxes or the containment tool to speed up the building of complex element groups.
Text Features
Creator gives you more ways to customise your text than any other program. You can infinitely adjust character attributes such as boldness, slant, outline thickness, shadow boldness and slant and select seperate colours for text fill, outline and shadow. You can also convert text elemets into drawing paths, so they can be modified and styled like a drawing element.
Drawing Tools
The Tools palette provides three drawing tools: The polygon tool lets you create multi-sided polygons and stars. The industry-standard cubic bezier drawing tool provides easy to use vectored drawing. And the pencil tool lets you draw freehand illustrations. You can also combine two or more objects, achieve the intersection of objects, exclude the intersection of objects, and subtract one object from another e.g, a circle overlapping a square would cut a cruved shape into the square. Creators drawing objects can also have images, colours or gradients for the fill or border of an object.
Masking Tools
Creator's unique containment tool, lets you put objects, pictures or text inside any other object. For example drop a picture of a Christmas gilft into an outline of a Christmas tree to the perfect Christmas image. Use the Magic Wand tool to mask out unwanted parts of any imported image e.g, the white background behind a product shot.
Productivity Enhanced
New backwards compatibility lets you open Creator v3.8.3 and above. New Document dialog box now incorporates a page and ad sizes database. Dual save automatically saves copies of your document in two locations to ease archiving. Expanded Tools palette now contains three additional tools :the hand tool,the magnify tool,and the demagnify tool.Optional color matching (Mac OS) lets you turn color matching on or off. Swatch view is now also available in Colors palette.
Fully Scriptable
Creator Desktop Pro is one of the few programs on the market that is fully scriptable for Mac OS using Applescript; and COM on Windows, using Visual Basic or any other tool that supports Windows automation. For example on the Mac you can record and playback actions, even change the menus that appear.
Export Formats
Export your Creator Desktop Pro documents or selected objects in Native PDF (no need for Acrobat), EPS with or without fonts included, JPEG, TIFF, GIF and XML. Also with optional plug-ins, you can open Creator documents in Quark or InDesign.
Cross Platform
Multi-Ad Creator Desktop Pro is available for Macintosh OS9 and OS X and Windows 98, ME and 2000 systems. Creator files are also completely compatible across platforms.
